Each year 1 in 5 Australians will experience a mental illness. Many people are not knowledgeable or confident to offer assistance. Physical first aid is accepted and widespread in our community, however most do not cover mental health problems. The 12-hour Standard Mental Health First Aid course is for any interested adult.
You will learn how to assist an adult who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves, using a practical, evidence-based action plan.
This course is based on guidelines developed through the expert consensus of people with lived experience of mental health problems and professionals.
Tim Daly is the founder and Executive Officer of This Is My Brave Australia Inc.
Tim not only has a background in business management formely being the General Manager of the ACT office of an international event staging business but also in training. He was the Regional Training Co-ordinator for the RTO arm of the same business delivering Certificate IV training to all trainee's. More recently Tim has delivered training at the new ACT Recovery College to students with lived experience of mental health issues.
